Yarmouth Old Gaffers Festival 2013 Photo Blog by Jason Swain. A little collection of photos snapped whilst out and about during the 2013 Old Gaffers Festival in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight this past weekend. This year they celebrated the Golden Jubilee of the Old Gaffers Association, which started up 50 years ago in 1963. The main focus of the event is the Spectacular Classic and Gaff-rigged Boats moored in the Harbour and the Exciting Racing for Gaff-rigged Boats within sight of the shore, but over recent years its grown to be a real family friendly festival with Street Entertainment, Live Music, Visiting Classic Vehicles, Craft Fair and Market, Flower Festival, Lifeboat Demonstration and tons of other random stuff around the town (I think this years most random for me was a marching / brass band ALL dressed as spiderman playing Stevie Wonder songs (The Bournemouth Carnival Band).
