MTB in The West Wight – Headon Warren Panorama by Jason Swain. A gigantic panorama of Alum Bay and The Needles looking from Headon Warren on the Isle of Wight under developing altocumulus clouds.
If you know the west wight location where this was taken, it will probably make you scratch your head a bit and wonder exactly what you are looking at. It was shot handheld, whilst spinning through 180 degrees to get a view looking both north and south in the same pano.
Shot using my new Sigma 12-24mm wide angle lens on the full frame Canon 6d camera body, and comprising of seven frames stitched together in photoshop.
This sort of super wide panorama might not appeal to everyone, but i think this could be my favourite shot of 2013 so far. It’s always difficult to keep on finding something new and original to shoot in the same old places, but i think by having a bit of action in the panorama with the MTB rider really adds an extra dimension.
Funnily enough, as the mountain biker shot past me, he shouted out that he’d ruined the shot, but to me, his presence had made the shot that little bit special!
