The Wight Sky – Wightlink Ferry approaching Yarmouth

The Wightlink Ferry ‘Wight Sky’ approaching Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight on the morning of this years Round the Island Race under wonderful Altocumulus clouds by Jason Swain.

It’s also a self portrait of sorts, shot from the end of Yarmouth Pier with my shadow from the early morning sun visible on the foreground railings.

You can’t really see any of the boats in this shot because of the wide-angle lens (You’ll need to check out one of my panoramas for that) but the ferry had just safely negotiated the Solent crossing through hundreds of yachts as it passed by the RTIR flotilla.

Shot with the Sigma 12-24mm lens on a Canon 6D camera body, this was my first trip out with two cameras as the other one was set up on the tripod with the telephoto lens for capturing the panoramas mentioned above.

Exif Data = f/5.6 at 1/400 iso100 12mm
