One man and his dog at Compton Bay, Isle of Wight by Jason Swain. After enjoying a weekend amongst the hustle and bustle of tens of thousands of people at the Isle of Wight Music Festival (see the last blog for details) I definitely needed a bit of an antidote, something to soothe the eyes and the brain.
I found one in the recent photo archives that really seemed to fit the bill for me, and as much as all the islands new marketing machinery is geared towards selling the ‘festival island’ these days, this kind of scene is probably what really appeals to most people above all.
I’ve noticed over the years that it is a sense of serenity and escape from the rat race in my photographs that inspires the most comments and feedback and enthusiasm for the Isle of Wight.
And you certainly get that when you are ‘one mand and his dog’ and have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world all to yourself* on a crisp spring day under wonderful big skies.
*all to yourself that is except for the lurking photographer 🙂
