Freshwater Bay Coastal Path Vertorama by Jason Swain. It’s a beautiful morning at Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight, its early summer and the Pink Thrift wildflowers are in bloom along the Coastal Path.
I set this composition up to take the viewers eye along the coastal path towards Blackgang Chine on the horizon, but then the Gul appeared and changed everything.
In some ways the photo is a complete failure, yes, the gul is in the perfect spot, but i had the wrong camera settings to catch him as I was setting up for a landscape shot and not an action shot at that time, and he just appeared out of the blue. But i’m happy that i spotted him at all and despite the problems i like the energy and motion it brings (and it looked great on the little screen on the back of the camera so i thought i’d got it right at the time 🙂
Shot with the Sigma 12-24mm wide angle lens on the Canon 6d camera body.
Exif Data = f/4.5 at 1/640 iso100 12mm
