Big Seas at Freshwater Bay by Jason Swain. Quick Photo blog of the big seas that hit today at Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight today. I got drenched a few times, met about half the island photographers and wasn’t tempted once to get my surfboard of the car. I dont think the predicted 20ft at 20secs swell arrived during daylight, it was big today but not THAT big, and i’ve definitely seen bigger waves here a few times over the years. But it was a lot of fun to be there with a camera and try to do the storm some justice and the sun shone all day which is a real bonus so far this winter. Shot with a variety of lenses on the Canon 6d, including a Sigma 50-500 telephoto and a Sigma 12-24mm ultra-wide. The wide lens was the one that got me soaked as the waves always look further away until they hit you!
