Big Calm at Totland Bay

Big Calm at Totland Bay by Jason swain. A classic two frame vertorama (vertical panorama) of reflected cirrus clouds (developed from aeroplane contrails) over Totland Bay from back in the spring of 2010.

Shot on my first DSLR, a canon 400D which i still use to this day as my ‘beach’ or compact camera with the 50mm f/1.8 fitted to it. Would love to shoot this again with my new full frame 6D and see if I could improve the overall quality of the shot (i dont think I could improve the subject!)

This was using my old favourite lens, the sigma 10-20mm wide-angle which is still going strong after 5+ years and a few billion shots. This image is very similar to a few others i posted back in 2010 at the time of shooting, (there was one a lot like this with a tiny figure walking along the little strip of land) but i’ve got lots of new online friends who wont have seen them at the time, and i’m thinking that lots of my old contacts are as forgetful as me and wont remember the original photos anyway 🙂
